Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz (1646–1716), one of the greatest philosophers and mathematicians of the Enlightenment, introduced ideas that prefigure modern concepts of the multiverse as possible worlds.

  • This is opposite of Descartes who said other worlds is not possible.

Leibniz’s Framework: Infinite Possible Worlds

At the heart of Leibniz’s metaphysics lies the idea that God, being omniscient and perfectly rational, contemplates an infinity of possible worlds — complete, consistent scenarios of how reality could unfold.
