Differential Pressure is the difference in pressure between two specific points within a system. It is often used to measure flow rates (by detecting the pressure drop across a restriction in a pipe) or fluid levels.

A gauge pressure sensor is technically a differential pressure sensor where one measurement point is simply open to the atmosphere.
