Man has been worshipping external forces since the earliest time. This tendency developed the concepts of ghost, spirit etc.

This extrovertive faith gave rise to religion and that is why it is ritualistic.

The first Upayantra of Yama is Ahim’sa’. It is “Manova’kka’yaeh sarvabhu’ta’na’mapiid’anam Ahim’sa’”.

A second entity certainly comes in where the question of inflicting or not inflicting pain arises.

There must be someone on whom you can inflict pain or not inflict pain. So inflicting pain or Him’sa’ is dependent on the existence of another entity. Suppose, you are alone in the world, will you be able to observe Ahim’sa’? The opportunity for external expression is essential, otherwise Yama Sa’dhana’ is not possible.

Yantra has 5 Upayantras.

The proper functioning of the Yantra depends on the proper functioning of the Upayantras. The Yama Sa’dhana’ which you practice has its abode within you but its utilization is possible only when there are second entities outside you.

No individual actually owns anything of this world. His body, even his mind, is not owned by him.

Parama’tma’ can snatch it away from him any moment He wishes. Men own nothing and so that they may not quarrel over worldly objects of enjoyment and waste their valuable time and potentiality, they have entrusted particular items to particular persons.

The word Brahma is derived from Brhat.

“Brhatva’d Brahma, Brm’han’atva’d Brahma." He is Brahma because He is great. The Sanskrit term Brm’han means to enlarge. Therefore, He is Brahma, also because He makes others great. Whosoever takes His ideation becomes great.

Tapah and Tapasya are synonyms.

Tapah is of 2 kinds:

To suffer pain providing Ananda (happiness) to the people

To suffer pain in order to give Ananda to Parama Purusa

Suppose somebody is suffering because of his economic or mental circumstances, and is unable to have any pleasure in the world. If you eschew your happiness to provide him the same, it will be called Tapah. Those who practise Tapah are said as Ta’pas or Tapasvii. You must remember one thing, that Tapah does not mean carrying coal to New Castle. If one has got luxurious food at his home, and you feed him after borrowing money, this is not Tapah, since the man whom you fed has received no happiness. As such this is not Tapah. You suffered hardships, but the other man was already enjoying all these things, and he has received no happiness. Feed the poor, the beggar, help some poor student after curtailing your family expenses, help the Children’s Homes, then it is Tapah. It shall not be Tapah if you are feeding a rich friend. Suppose you have spent Rs 5000/‑ in feeding your rich friends. Though you have suffered economic hardship, it is not tapah. The social service programme of A’nanda Ma’rga comes under Tapah.

Knowledge is the subjectivization of the external objectivity.

The method of this subjectivization is known as Adhyayana or study. Root Adhi+Ayan suffix-Adhyayana.

Adhyaya name an store ad something, understanding its proper meaning. If you read only without knowing the proper meaning, it does not come in the scope of Sva’dhya’ya. You might have seen a man reading Hanuma’na Ca’liisa’ without stop. But he pays no attention to its meaning. It also happens that if he does not get time to read anyday, he will bid Pran’a’ma to the scripture just touching it with his head three times. These are all useless.
You have to read with proper understanding of the meaning. Here the `meaning’ does not indicate the meaning of the word, lying within. If you yourself cannot understand the spirit, the underlying meaning of any subject, you should go to other persons who can help you. It is a must for you to know the meaning.
