Blackbody Radiation

Unit 1

Blackbody Radiation

0 min read

Blackbody radiation is the thermal radiation emitted by an opaque, non-reflective object.

This gives off light with color and brightness that is dependent on that temperature.

  • Temperature is the volume or density of heat particles in a body or environment.
  • Brightness is the volume of light particles
  • Color is the spin speed of the light particles

Its spectrum is universal: the intensity and colors of light it gives off depend entirely on the object’s temperature, not its material composition
