The 3 Gunas as Effect of the 2 Forces
The duality of the 2 Forces leads to 3 influences or gunas, with the 3rd being the middle or arbiter between the 2 Forces:
God made the soul out of the following elements. He took the indivisible and unchangeable Same and the divisible and material Other. He added a third and intermediate Essence which has the nature of the first and second. He placed this in a mean between the indivisible, and the divisible and material.
But two things cannot be rightly put together without a third. There must be some bond of union between them. The fairest bond is that which makes the most complete fusion* of itself and the things which it combines.
From 3, this was further crudified into 5 which become the basis of our 15 layers.
In this way, the 2 active forces lead to 3 influences which lead to 5 static layers spread into 15 within the larger influence of:
- mental
- biophysical
- physical
